Cobalt Moose Art Studios is at heart a working studio, shared by mother-daughter business partners Terry & Whitney Hall. We have been painting together since 2005 and have individually received numerous awards for our work. We started Cobalt Moose Art Studios in 2008 and have both been full-time painters since 2009.

Terry C. Hall

“The basis of any good story is character development, and, like a good book, my goal as an artist is to tell a story with the characters in my paintings. My style is crossover – often bridging the line between contemporary and traditional, always applying the foundational principals of design, value, and color. “All the World’s a Stage” is essentially my approach to the selection of my subjects. If I have a passionate response to a figure in any type of situation it’s likely I’ll want to paint them, no matter what culture they are a part of. My paintings lean toward the western genre, but my characters will move in and out of western according to the story I’m moved to illustrate.”

Whitney Michelle Hall

“As an animal artist, my work is less about painting the environment or lifestyle and more about the simple beauty of the form. I gather my subjects from around my Montana home, and use those images as a jumping off point for exploring different moods with the animal in the painting. In nearly all of my paintings the subject becomes figurative with the surrounding landscape abstracted to entirely emphasize the calligraphic shape of the animal, which is beautiful without any elaboration.”
